Tony Wade Holbrooks
Singer, Songwriter, Recording Artist
Biography

Tony Wade Holbrooks born to Martha, a gospel singer and Warren Holbrooks, a local business owner in Cook county, Georgia. Tony grew up in the rock-n-roll era of mega stars like Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis and country idol George Jones. Like a lot of kids he began to emulate his heroes, so by the time he entered high school, young Tony was playing and singing with various “garage” bands in the Tampa Bay area.

After graduating High school, Tony Wade put his music on the back-burner and started a business restoring and selling classic volkswagens. Eventually he ended up owning his own classic volkswagen dealership and became known as “The Bug Man” in Tampa. Then fate stepped in when he was critically injured in an automobile accident. He wasn't expected to walk but Tony Wade is no quitter. With time on his hands, Tony renewed his interest in music and began writing songs. After time, he recovered successfully from his injuries and formed The Bug City Band.

Catering to the audiences’ musical tastes in the various Tampa clubs where the band played, Tony developed an interest and love for country music. Mixing his rock roots with the Nashville sound, he soon had a large following of fans at the various clubs he played. Then fate stepped in once again. In 1996 he won the 1st Annual George Dickel Songwriting Contest, beating out some thirty thousand other entrants.

This win thrust him into an entertainment career he had only dreamed of before. He bugged out of his “Bug” business and moved to Nashville, Tennessee to pursue his music career. There he was signed by reknown producer and recording engineer, Mike Shockley. Together they formed Mitone Music Publishing and began developing Tony.

Wade's first CD “Nothing But Good News” featuring the single “Lets Dance”. Meanwhile, Tony had penned his “Funky Bug” song and performed it to an enthusiastic crowd of Volkswagen fans at the annual Tampa Bugfest in 1996. Twelve thousand people couldnt be wrong, and with the introduction of the new Volkswagen Bug, Tony Wade began to get requests to perform the “Funky Bug” at various Bugfests around the country.

After the unexpected death of his friend and mentor, Mike Shockley, Tony Wade has since continued to operate Mitone Music Publishing and has now completed his CD “Nothing But Good News”. The album release is planned for the spring of 1999.

It's going to be a busy year for the talented Tony Wade Holbrooks. He is booked to perform several dates in Canada & the United States during the summer of 1999 and just last January 21st, he organized a Candlelight Vigil in Nashville's world famous Printer's Alley. It was to honor the memory of an old friend, David “Skull” Schulman, who was brutally murdered in his Rainbow Room Club one year ago. The event was held to raise public awareness of the murder and to help increase the reward offered by Crime Stoppers for the capture and conviction of the killer. TV cameras whirred and still cameras flashed as Tony sang "A Wedding in Heaven" a song he had written about his friend "Skull". He was joined at the vigil by country star George Jones and recording artist Linda Gail Lewis, sister of legendary Jerry Lee Lewis, as well as many other friends of Schulman.

Tony Wade Holbrooks is going far in the business of entertaining people. His compassion for his music and other people go unquestioned. So, as his dear, departed friend, Mike Shockley would say, "Let Dance!"
